The city of Kobe is sandwiched between the sea and the mountains.
It’s a long and narrow town, the population 1.5 million, one of Japan’s leading port.
The city was just village 200 years ago. but from the late Edo period
to the Meiji days Kobe evolved into modernity, opened the door
to foreign countries. there is foreign mood everywhere.

Kobe steak is one of Kobe’s food cultures. the reason why we eat a lot of steak is because many westerners have lived there and eaten.
