 Fushimi-Inari first

When foreigners visited Kyoto, at first they would go to the Fushimi-Inari.

And they will be amazed at the scenery of the oriental shrine.

Fushimi-Inari is the head shrine of the 30,000 Inari-sha shrines nationwide.

It has been a place of wide worship for the guardian god of abundant crops, businesses, prosperity and family safety since the Inari Okami (God of harvest )

It was housed on Mt Inari in the 4th year (711 ) of Hatsu-uma in February

during the Wado era

 

Kiyomizu-dera second

Kiyomizu-dera has had  the distinction of attracting more visitors each year

any other temple in Kyoto. the reason is the sense of enchantment

one experiences exploring the magnificent buildings within the temples set among

the beautiful landscape.

In 778,instructed by a dream, Saint Enchin left his own temple in Nara

the statue he carved was installed in a hat at the top of the waterfall.

this would be beginning of the Kiyomizu-dera we see today

And well known for the huge stage that it has. also Kiyomizudera is designated as a UNESCO world heritage site categorized as a Historic Monuments of ancient Kyoto

 Gion third

Gion is a district that spreads outside the main gate 0f Yasaka Shrine which  developed  during the early Edo period in 17th century

It reputedly started as a few shops serving tea to visitors of the shrine

Gradually, shops serving food and sake appeared with young women who practiced

in the refined arts of dance and music

These women became the present Maiko and Geiko.

Gion is recognized as one of a downtown or an amusement center of Kyoto,

developed as the territory of Yasaka  shrine or the sphere of its influence along

the sHijo-street between Kamo River and Yasaka Shrine

Two areas on both side of Shijo-street are called Gion

River (Shirakawa) and Houses on The north side are designated as Important Preservation District of Historic Buildings.

On the south side, the whole area is designated as Preserved area with historical landscape.

Gion is the most attractive area as a city where Japanese Culture is still alive in Japan
